Ruby Canyon Overlook Ranch
This approximate eleven hundred acre ranch lays adjacent to Ruby Rive Photos by Reid L Rosenthal Copyright 2008r Canyon ranch. Ranches of the West (ROW) assisted with due diligence, acquisition, and disposition of the ranch. In addition to approximately one half mile of Ruby River, and more than a mile of Hinch Creek, the ranch controlled the rolling high desert and high desert foothills below the northern portion of Ruby Lake Ranch and Ruby Peak Wilderness study area. Spring development, pond construction, upland range improvements, and riparian area fencing protecting Hinch Creek are just a sampling of improvements made by Ranches of the West on behalf of the owners. . USDA EQIP grants were obtained by ROW for certain enhancements. A mule deer herd in danger of elimination once again became vibrant, almost quintupling in numbers. Whitetail, antelope, and elk populations also increased noticeably. Several miles of cross fencing allowed for holistic, rest rotation upland grazing. The upland water developments spread out and increased grass utilization and increased stocking rates. Ranches of the West also acted as construction manager on a beautiful, southern style, log home nestled in one of the canyons, virtually invisible t
o the surrounding valley and the ranch itself. The home was featured in three national publications, including Log home Living, Country Log homes, and Better Homes and Gardens. The ranch was protected by conservation easements negotiated on behalf of the owners by ROW. The ranch was sold by the owners in 2006.
