Tottenhoff Ranches
These three varied smaller ranches, Wherenberg, Tottenhoff and Bortels, together comprise about 320 acres measured, and roughly triple that in surface acreage. All three ranches are contiguous to the LaBonte Canyon Ranch. All have springs, smaller creeks, and varying topography ranging from inspiring rock formations to narrow winding canyons rising from high desert sage. An historic Ute wood pole teepee, one of only a few remaining intact in the United States, graces a small meadow with a bubbling spring on the Wherenberg Ranch. The area has been protected by Ranches of the West to preserve this unique historical attribute. ROW is also planning for the owners’ various resource improvements, including aspen regeneration, spring development, ponds, and a food plat on Wherenberg. Land planning, potential grants of conservation easements, and ongoing pasturage operations are among other tasks assigned to ROW by the owners.
