Ranches of the West Inc. :: Wyoming Ranches
Wyoming Ranch Projects

Along the Historic Fort Fetterman Road in the stunning Laramie Mountain Range of Wyoming is an area that has remained a relatively undiscovered wilderness. Just a few hours north of the bustling Front Range of Colorado, this region boasts dramatic rock formations, forested mountain peaks, lush aspen groves, creeks, ponds and springs.

Since 2003 Ranches of the West, in concert with several other conservation minded companies, have acquired seven large ranches totaling more than twenty-five thousand surface acres. In the past five years improvements have been implemented and much of these lands are well along their way to long term resource enhancement. These features span a vast range of improvements including fishery enhancement to creeks, numerous  upland spring, stock tank and pond developments that benefit livestock, wildlife, fish and agriculture. Historic cabins dating back more than a century have undergone and are in the process of renovation in keeping with their original construction. Aspen grove regeneration, irrigation improvements, upland range and forage enrichment are among the many projects well under way.

Encompassing five eco systems ranging from the banks of LaPrele Creek at five thousand feet to high mountain coniferous cover at over eight thousand feet, the edges of these tightly woven eco systems provides desired habitat for large numbers of antelope, elk, mule and white-tail deer. From irrigated meadow, to high timbered hills replete with a vast array of vegetative cover, heavily treed aspen and conifer, miles of small mountain creeks wind their way like silver arteries through the numerous rocky crags of canyons, this land is inviting, rugged and remote.
